RO vs. UV vs. UF: Which Water Purifier is Best for You?
Decoding Water Purification Technologies
Buying a water purifier can be confusing with terms like RO, UV, and UF being thrown around. Let's simplify what each technology does:
1. RO (Reverse Osmosis)
Best for: Hard water with High TDS (borewell/groundwater).
It forces water through a microscopic membrane, removing dissolved salts, heavy metals (lead, arsenic), and completely sweetening the taste.
2. UV (Ultraviolet)
Best for: Municipal/Tap water with Low TDS but high risk of bacteria.
It uses a UV light to instantly kill viruses and bacteria in the water. However, it does NOT remove dissolved salts or change the taste.
3. UF (Ultrafiltration)
Best for: Muddy water without electricity.
It physically filters out dust, mud, and some bacteria using a hollow fiber membrane. It works without electricity but cannot remove dissolved chemicals.
The Verdict: Most modern purifiers use a combination (RO + UV + UF) for maximum safety. Need help choosing? Give us a call!
